The March 2nd meeting was called to order at 7:30 with 23 members and guest present. Secretaries report was read and approved Treasurers report was given by Brian with just a brief account of funds. Report was approved as given. Announcements were given with the notation of the March 20 Emergency Communications Class may need to be canceled, March 23 class will be a table top excersize with everyone getting a card with some job to do and thats what they will need to do. Test will be April 13 at 7pm normal VE testing night. Cost of the test is $15 Brian informed us that everything was ready for the location of this years Ham Swapmeet. Same location as last year at the Tea Truck Stop Marlins Cafe. Swapmeet committee will now start getting prizes and donations ready to go. As of now its still free to attend and $1.00 a table. Brian and Don reported on the outcome of the Coax Party and had lots of orders made just not to many showed up to make them. Brian talked to us about a new order for clothing items from Maximum Promotions. Orders are being taken for T-shirts $9.00 long sleeve T-shirts, sweatshirts $12 and caps. Few dollars more for XX sizes. Orders will be taken thru April 6th and also at that meeting. March newsletter is out and is filled with lots of information and good stories,look it up and enjoy the news. Tech Committee gave their report on their work since the last meeting. Mike will be trying to make contact with the Boy Scouts for future involvement with us and will report at the next meeting. Club board members will be checking on the price of a 220 radio for the club trailer, may have a radio donation to the club so this was also tabled until next meeting. The club is taking orders for push up masts. Same price for shipping but the cost of the 32 ft. maxgain systems mast is $119 plus shipping. If you are interested in ordering one get your oder in right away Brian will be sending in the oder within the next few days. It was discussed to buy a heavy duty one for the club but was decided to just get the lighter one. Motion was approved Tom has donated some Antenna stands to the club for sale. Cost is $65.00 ea and there are 8 of them, if interested contact Brian. We will be active in the Museum Ships on the Air Special Events on June 5and 6. We will set up on Upper Sherman Park which is located next to the Minnehaha Country Club. More information at future meetings. Field Day Committee will be checking into a different location for Field Day this year since the Fair grounds will be occupied that weekend of June 26-27th. Will be looking into the FOP and the School for the Deaf properties. Always interested in other suggested properties. Both Don and Brian commented on the preparations for the "sure to be" coming flood with the Red Cross and other possible served agencies. The Red Cross has changed part of their MOU stating that we need to have a criminal background check done. It is free for you to go to the clerk of Courts Office and get yours done. Brian will email everyone with the information needed for you to do so. Sheet was passed around for signing up to volunteer for the Walk MS coming up this April 17th. If you are interested in helping out for this event and havent signed up yet contact Brian soon. Aprils Program will be on the Walk MS Preparations and Training. The route this year is downtown Sioux Falls Area and repeater coverage isnt the best for handhelds down there. So the Program will provide some training for this event.
