The participation by the general public at the Community Science Celebration was light. We had a poor location this year, being away from most exhibits. Suggestion is mand tio submit the event to QST as a special events station, so we increase our contacts and hopefully attract more people to get on the air. Brian, KC0VDE took orders for shirts, jackets and hats. See Brian if you would still like to order something. Rich, N0PV moves that we purchase a Yaesu 897D to use with the tuner, power supply & Pelican case donated by Brian, KC0VDE. Motion seconded and approved. We will now have a complete station in a relatively light weight case for portable or emergency operations. Discussion on repair of 220 repeater. A new antenna would cost $660.00. Sugestion was made to try a new amplifier first, if we can get one. It is also mentioned that Dave K9VKG has a TDR test set, which could be used to diagnose the problem. Question was brought up if club is liable for non-offiicial storm chasers using the repeater to co-ordinate their activities. A ham was directed into the rain-free cloud base of a thunderstorm by anothe ham recently. This is not considered safe as this is the area of a thunderstorms where tornado's develop. Meeting adjourned at 8:25 May 2 meter net control is Dan, KC0YMW, June net control will be Dave, KC0SSD.
