Treasurers report: Our Cd has earned $23.21. We still owe $60 for the keyer from the hamfest. The FT-450 door prize cost the club $685.19, which will be reimbursed by the section. The club made a $120.00 profit on the hamfest. Our current bank balance is $972.29.

There will be VE testing Tuesday, October 14 at 7:00 PM at the Emergency Management Building.

Next SEARC business meeting will be Tuesday, November 4 at 7:30. Ray, WB0HHM will be presiding.

Skywarn Recognition day will be Friday, December 5 at 5:00PM local until Saturday, December 6 @ 5:00 PMat the National Weather Service office at the Sioux Falls Airport. Don, KC0VDF will be in charge of set-up Friday afternoon. Volunteers needed for set-up and tear-down.

The club will be sponsoring General licensing classes beginning Saturday, January 17, 9:30AM at the Emergency Management Building. Instructors are needed.

The 2008 Hamfest had 170 attendees.The venue was less than promised, since they plan to tear down the Oaks Hotel later this year. Facilities were not up to par, the parking lot was full of potholes, and every time we needed assistance, the hotel had to call someone in from off site to help us. We lost money on the banquet. Mostly local amateurs attended the banquet, which again was sub par. Ideas are needed for a new venue for the next Hamfest. The time frame for the next Hamfest is not yet decided. Most people who have voiced their opinion favor two years. Let the officers know your opinion. Rondi, KC0ZSN will be sending thank you note to the vendors.

The SEARC open house and November Sweeps has been cancelled this year.

Ray, WB0HHM reminds us that there is a New Years Eve QSO party on 75 meters, 3.860 Mhz.

The SEARC Christmas party will be the 5th Tuesday of December at Old Chicago. Bring a $15 gift if you wish to participate in the gift exchange.
